Generic Name: Buspirone hydrochloride

Primary Use: Generalised Anxiety disorder

Dosage Forms:
  • Oral tablets of 5mg and10mg
  • Oral DIVIDOSE tablet: 15mg and 30mg
Common Side Effects:
  • Unusual excitement
  • Nervousness
  • Restlessness
Rare Side Effects:
  • Blurred vision
  • Decreased concentration
  • Sweating
  • Drowsiness
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dryness of mouth
  • Muscular pain or spasm
  • Tinnitus
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Fatigue
Serious Side Effects:
  • Chest pain
  • Incoordination
  • Fever
  • Racy or fast heart beats
  • Confusion
How long should it be taken?

As per doctor’s advice.

Effectiveness:
  • BuSpar has shown significant benefit as an anxiolytic.
  • It has been discontinued due to increased availability of the generic form of the drug.
  • It is not a habit-forming medication hence used for both short- and long-term treatment choice for anxiety disorders.
