Primary Use: Depression

Dosage Forms:
  • Oral tablets of 10mg, 20mg and 40mg
Common Side Effects:
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea, constipation
  • Insomnia, tiredness
  • Increased muscle movements
  • Dizziness, drowsiness
  • Sexual problems
  • Loss of appetite
  • Agitation
  • Dry mouth
  • Increased sweating, urination
  • Epistaxis, menorrhagia (unusual bleeding)
  • Stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat
  • Changes in mood
  • Risk taking behaviour
  • Confusion
  • Growth interference in children
How long should it be taken?

Usually, it is taken for a period of 6 to 9 months.

Most common consequences of long-term use:
  • Risk of arrhythmias
  • Risk of diabetes type II
  • Lowered libido
Effectiveness:
  • While Celexa is effective for some, it may not work for everyone.
  • May work better if used along with psychotherapy.
