Depression and relationships

Can a person struggling with depression actually have a healthy relationship? I believe it's possible but it requires consistent effort from both partners, and at the end of the day not everyone can actually deal with a partner struggling with depression. What's your thoughts on this?

My father had clinical depression for more than 10 years, my parents are still together. My uncle has severe depression, he is still under medication but my aunt is always with him. You can certainly have a healthy relationship even when you have depression provided your partner understand you and is willing to sacrifice herself to him you overcome depression.

I can't be in a relationship with someone that is struggling with depression. Honestly, I am not a very patient person. And I wouldn't be able to tolerate all those constant mood swings and emotional torture from a depressed person. From my point of view, a person that is struggling with depression should resolve the depression first before thinking of a relationship.
