Do you think OCD progresses as you age?

Growing up I don't think I had OCD. Now days though I do feel like I slightly have it. As there are times where I have these feelings that I am fogetting something. Like for example, I'm constantly paranoid our stoves burners are still on sometimes, so I will double check. Main reason is because sometimes we accidently turn on of the burners, so now I'm constantly checking.

With that being said, I check the stove every time I leave home now. In the past I wouldn't even bother. I think I'm more OCD than I was growing up. Do you think it's possible to see it get worse as you get older?

That's a very good question. I do not think it got worse but certain things can make it boomerang and they are life responsibilities and stress because these things increases with your age. That can make it feel a lot heavier. I know a guy that used to arrange everything perfectly back in school like books, shoes, everything must be in line. Now he still does it, but he says work pressure makes it harder to manage. So yeah, it depends. If you find coping strategies early, it won’t really progress that bad.
