For those who have been through depression, they know there are just those days when getting out of bed is a hardship. Taking care of simple tasks is daunting. Do any of you find when you write, it helps relieve some of the depression you feel? Do you find it helps you get through the day? Or flipside, have you found writing actually makes you feel worse?
I have always loved to write & it's one of the things I can count on to lift me up, even if it's temporary.

I used to write poetry when I was depressed but I am not sure if it helped a lot. I know it did, but not sure how much. Poetry I wrote was in the time I tried suicide so maybe it had some kind of positive effect not to try that nonsense again. :D

The only time that I have felt depressed in my life, nothing helped me with it. It wasn't writing or music or movies or even talking to anyone in form of therapy. The root of why I was depressed needed to be fixed and when it was, I got better quickly.

Writing can be a beneficial tool for managing depression. It allows for self-expression, reflection, and can provide a sense of release. Writing can help clarify thoughts and emotions, serving as a therapeutic outlet. However, it's important to seek professional help in addition to writing if experiencing depression.

I believe writing can be a helpful tool for managing depression. Journaling allows you to express emotions that may be difficult to verbalize, providing an outlet for stress, sadness, and frustration. Writing about your thoughts and feelings can offer clarity, help identify triggers, and track progress. It can also foster a sense of control and accomplishment. Creative writing, like poetry or storytelling, can offer escapism, while reflective writing encourages self-awareness and personal growth. In some cases, writing has been found to reduce negative emotions and improve mental well-being.

I always used writing to tackle depression for myself back in those days. It really helped me to relieve the pains of a hurting situation when I express them in writing. I still do writing as an escape from depression but not so much any longer.

My father worked as a journalist all the while suffering form depression. His newspaper articles were fine but when he did creative writing, it showed his mental conditions. But I think writing did help him to channelize his emotions and find solace in his loneliness and abject sadness.

Blogging has been a great way for me to cope with my anxiety and depression. Since I frequently find myself without anyone to confide in during challenging times, I depend on my blog as an outlet to share my thoughts and feelings.
