Generic Name: Amitriptyline hydrochloride

Primary Use: Depression, Neuropathic pain

  • Oral tablets of 10mg, 25mg, 50mg and 75mg
Common Side Effects:
  • Abnormal lactation
  • Abnormal swelling of testes/breasts
  • Swelling of mouth/ parotid glands
  • Skin changes/ rash

How long should it be taken?

Elavil is tailored according to individual needs.

Most common consequences of long-term use:
  • Weight gain
  • Type II Diabetes mellitus
  • Discontinuation syndrome (If suddenly stopped after regular use for at least 6-8 weeks)
