How do major life changes such as retirement, empty nesting, and potential health concerns impact the mental health of Baby Boomers, and what strategies can be implemented to support them during these transitions?

Retiring means losing the structure, purpose, and social connections that work provided, which can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and a loss of identity. My grand uncle, for example, struggled with this transition. After retiring, he felt disconnected and depressed. He tackled it by taking up new hobbies, volunteering, and staying active in social circles. Mental health in retirement often depends on how individuals adapt to changes in routine and find new sources of fulfillment.

For many baby boomers, they built their entire identity around their jobs. And when those jobs are no more, they seem to have lost that identity. That is why some of them easily get depressed after they retire.
