Is peer pressure worse today because of social media?

Todays generation of kids are constantly online, and a lot of that is thanks to social media. It got worse when apps like tiktok took over, as kids became addicted to having to one up another on these apps. Everyone is making content online now and kids are have this unreasonable expectation of getting online to get popular.

I think social media has made peer pressure worse, because everyone is online now. Kids always try to one up another, and I think social media makes it easier for these kids to push other kids to follow them. Almost like pushing for a FOMO if you don't follow them. I think kids are pressured to follow in the footsteps of the popular kids, and if you don't, you get blasted online, or get judged. At least that's what I'm seeing. Do you agree? Or am I being a bit dramatic?

You’re not being dramatic at all. Social media has amplified peer pressure immensely. Kids constantly compare themselves, chasing validation through likes and followers. The fear of missing out and online judgment creates unrealistic expectations, hurting self-esteem and making individuality harder to maintain.

Absolutely. Social media makes it worse as you constantly see what other people are doing and you also want to meet up. One can easily feel out of place in that situation. Peer pressure was previously largely physical, but now it trails you everywhere on your cell phone.😂 It requires real courage not to pay attention to it.
