Pessimism Does Not Make You Cool

When I was in high school and college, I had a lot of friends who believed that being pessimist will make you cool. They got this idea from Russians authors, who explored pessimism an existential crisis in their literature. They were also influenced by Existentialism which is usually related to the philosophy of pessimism.

Do you have a belief in philosophical pessimism?

I recently, saw a meme where English writer says, I will die for honor, French writer says, I will die for love, American writer says, I will die for freedom, and the Russian writer says, I will die. Look at the pessimism. If you read too much Classical Russian literature, you will surely become pessimistic.

If you are not positive in life, it's definitely going to be very difficult for you to make any good progress in anything that you are doing. I'm always full of life and optimistic because it's way better.

Yes, I agree, pessimism doesn’t make you cool. I’ve seen how constant negativity can push people away. Staying hopeful and solution-focused not only feels better but also inspires others. Optimism shows strength, not weakness, especially when facing life’s real challenges.
