The dreaded dementia and alzheimer's disease

My cousin's mother had dementia. It was a pitiful condition that she reached a point that she doesn't understand food anymore. She was skin and bones when she died after 10 years. Unfortunately, my cousin had a budding dementia when his mother died. Now the doctors pronounced it is Alzheimer's disease that my cousin, after 5 years, do not know us anymore. I don't know where that condition is leading to.

My great grandfather passed away from alzheimer's. This was when I was around 3 years old so I don't really remember him. I barely remember visiting him and he was sleeping most of the time we went to see him. Both diseases are terrible and I hope I don't suffer from them in the future.

I’ve seen how devastating dementia and Alzheimer’s can be. Watching a loved one forget familiar faces is heartbreaking. A friend’s grandmother once mistook her for a stranger. Simple tasks become impossible, and personality shifts. It’s a cruel disease that takes memories piece by piece.
