The Paradox of Choice: Why More Options Cause Gen Z More Stress

From careers to dating apps, unlimited options create decision fatigue. How do you manage choice overload?

As someone from this generation what's one area where you'd prefer fewer options?

I think the paradox of choice stresses Gen Z because having too many options, whether in careers, products, or lifestyles, creates overwhelm and fear of making the wrong decision. This abundance can lead to anxiety and dissatisfaction instead of freedom and happiness.

Gen Z have too many options, which often overwhelm rather than empower. From what I’ve seen, it fuels anxiety and second-guessing, making simple decisions feel heavy and stressful instead of liberating.

For Gen Zs, they are seeing curated, almost perfect lifestyles of people on social media. They just now tend to believe that " The Grass Might Be Greener On the Other Side". That notion makes it very hard for them to be here or there. Most end up not even being able to make decisions for themselves.

It is not easy for a person to keep analysing options that are unlimited just to make a choice. It causes stress to us when a simple choice has to be examined through limitless points of views. That is why Gen Z struggle with decision making.
