When Social Events Feel Draining

Even friendly gatherings can exhaust people with social anxiety or introversion. How do you recharge after socializing? Do you think social burnout is misunderstood or overlooked?

I'm not too fond of social gatherings unless it's with close family or close friends. If it's a social event involving people I don't know, I usually have more trouble with that. Anyway, if I do take part in a social event, my way of recharging is relaxing, maybe taking a break, go see a movie, play some video games, etc.

I think social burnout can be misunderstood in some ways, because I know there are people out there who are judgmental towards people who get burnt out from having a social life. Some of us just can't stand being that social, and that's okay. I think people are starting to accept that burnout is a real thing, even with mental health, so it's being taken more seriously these days.
