What medication do you take for depression?

There's many different types of anti-depressants on the market. Which one do you take to manage your symptoms? My spouse is on Zoloft currently, and it's been making them a bit sick to their stomach unfortunately. They go to see their new psychiatrist next week, so hopefully they can be put on something else. It's been helping their mood however, but every once in a while if they think about food they feel sick.

I think it is mostly only chronic depression that would make one go for medication. I would prefer counselling. Talking would help me better

I don’t suffer from depression but am on an antidepressant called Elavil. It’s an old-school med that helps with appetite, and I think in higher doses helps with pain.
I’m on half of the lowest dose, only because my appetite is lacking without it.
I can’t say it has done much for OCD, probably too low of a dose.

At the moment I am taking Fluoxetine in the day and Amitriptyline at night. Both are used to treat depression but are also used to help with sleep and also pain that I go through.

Amitriptyline for me too (Elavil). Very low dose but wow it really does help with sleep.
The main reason I ended up on an antidepressant was to help me get more exercise f an appetite, and to stop racing & intrusive thoughts. It truly is the only antidepressant I can tolerate.
I lost my mind on only one dose of Prozac, and then again on Zoloft. I feared all antidepressants after that, so I was reluctant to try the Ami. I am so glad I gave it a chance. :)
