Bullying and mental health

Over the years there have been lots of cases of students being bullied by either fellow students or teachers. South Korea has recorded high numbers of people committing suicide and most of these cases where often caused by bullying. I have seen most people develop mental issues like depression or high level of anxiety due to bullying. How can schools prevent students from being bullied to protect their mental health?

I have never been a victim of bully and I have never bullied anyone. If someone tries to bully me, I will stand up for myself. I do understand those who cannot stand up for themselves might end up with a victim mentality and it might cause a lot of mental health issues. Bullying in common in schools as hormonal charged students might not know what is good and what is bad. This can be tacked only through better education, especially lessons on morality.

Bullying deeply affects mental health. I’ve seen classmates withdraw, lose confidence, and even develop anxiety from constant bullying. It leaves lasting emotional scars. Supportive schools, anti-bullying policies, and open conversations can help victims feel safe, heard, and begin to heal.

Schools can prevent bullying and protect student's mental health by developing and enforcing a clear policy on bullying with consequences for perpetrators.

How can schools prevent bullying when some of the teachers themselves bully the students? All measure should be put in place by the school management to ensure there's no form of bullying in the school, whether from teachers to students or from students to students.

Bullying destroys the self esteem of a person. And it makes a person to live in constant fear. People crawl into their shell when they are being bullied. I know people that fear to associate with others or take up challenges because of bullying.

Absolutely, bullying can shatter self-esteem and trap people in fear. It isolates them, making social connection and confidence feel unsafe. Healing takes time, support, and sometimes professional help. Creating safe, empathetic environments is vital to help survivors reclaim their strength.

Bullying can severely harm mental health, causing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and even suicidal thoughts. I’ve known people who struggled with lasting emotional scars from bullying, showing how critical support and intervention are to protect mental well-being.

Bullying demoralizes a person entirely. It weakens their resolve and makes them feel vulnerable to everything. It is easier for a person that is a victim of bullying to have suicidal thoughts. Bullying in any guise is terrible.
