Fear of Flying, is it a phobia?

I have always felt uneasy on planes. Especially during takeoff. It’s the worst feeling, totally depending on the strength of the plane to lift itself up into the sky, with such speed, including all the passengers and heavy luggage..
Would this be considered a phobia, possibly fear of heights?

Well, fear of flying can be a phobia (aviophobia) if it’s intense, irrational, and disrupts your life. My heart races just "thinking" about turbulence or takeoff—logic doesn’t help. It’s not just “nerves”; it’s your brain screaming "danger." But it’s treatable: therapy (like CBT), exposure techniques, or even medication can help rewire that panic.

Quite a lot of people have anxieties during flights and most especially during the takeoff and when there are turbulence. I didn't see it as a phobia as it is a common fear of so many people.

I don't have any problem when the plane is taking off but you see when it's landing, it freaks me out to death. The first touchdown when the tyres touch the runway sends a vibration throughout the plane. I'll never get used to it.

I don't have any fear of planes, but I don't like being on the roof of a house. I suppose the extreme heights of a plane doesn't register in my brain like being on a roof does.

Maybe because a true fear of heights depends on keeping your own balance and stopping yourself from falling. On a plane, well, it’s up to the pilot and plane.
Wow, I just realized I have this fear of flying because I have absolutely no control over what the plane will do.
Anxious people tend to be control freaks, but not in an evil way, more in an overprotective safe way.
