Has mental health ever been the cause of a relationship falling apart?

Has there ever been a time where your mental health caused a rift in a relationship? Maybe it was a partner, or a close friend. Or maybe it's the other way around and your partner or friend caused the rift. Did the relationship fall apart or were you able to save it? I thankfully haven't had a relationship end because of mine or their mental health. But what about you? Or maybe someone you know?

Yes, I’ve seen mental health affect relationships. I’ve noticed that untreated stress, anxiety, or depression can create misunderstandings, emotional distance, and communication breakdowns, making it harder for both partners to connect and support each other effectively.

Yeah it's especially worse if neither side seeks help. Sometimes getting help can save a relationship when it goes down this path. There is always hope of recovering things. But of course, mental health can weigh on everyone and it can be different for everyone too.

I lost a romantic partner because I had suffered depression so much. The depression was because of my financial situation a the time. The lady tried to comfort me and bring me out from depression. But it seemed like I was not forthcoming. That went on for months and it was already affecting her mental health. That's why she had to leave the relationship.

This hasn't happened to me, in fact I or my partners never have hand any kind of serious mental health issues. However, I have see a lot of friends, family members and acquaintances suffer in their relationship because mental health issues. I have a relative who has a very bad relationship with her husband because her husband is suffering from depression. He is on medication and says his wife is his trigger for depression.
