Yes, that's one very effective advice for retaining your mental health and to stay happy. I keep meeting people who are always running behind plans, goals, agenda. They are totally occupied with it. Well, having a plan and goal is good. It makes you streamlined. But every now and then, pause and introspect. See if you are too caught up with these plans and agendas. While they make you effective and efficient, are they keeping you away from the real bliss and little joys around. Are they shrinking you and taking a toll on your mental health?
Just have days in between your daily routines where you go unplanned. You are fluid and flexible to go ahead with the flow of the day. This brings a balance and does a lot of good for your mental health.
 
It is ideal to get a good break or pause in during the day to day struggles of life. From work, financial struggles, taking care of a family, etc. It all weighs on us over time, and taking a day or two where you don't plan anything out allows you to unwind a bit. I think sometimes planning everything out, overwhelms people, so take it slow, don't rush it. That's how I see it. Give yourself time.
 
Absolutely, having days with no plans can be really refreshing. I try to keep at least one day a week free from schedules, letting myself relax, read, or just reflect. It helps recharge my energy and clears my mind, making the rest of the week more productive.
