Is a lack of love one cause of depression?

A lack of love, or feeling unloved, can absolutely contribute to depression. While it is not the sole cause, it is a significant factor for many. Humans are social creatures, and strong social connections, including feeling loved and accepted, are crucial for mental well-being. The absence of these connections can lead to feelings of loneliness, isolation, and low self-worth, all of which are common symptoms of depression.

Yes, a lack of love and emotional connection can be a contributing factor to depression. Humans naturally seek affection, support, and belonging. When these needs go unmet, especially over time, it can lead to feelings of loneliness, worthlessness, and eventually depression.

People can be dumped by romantic partners, but that's not the only kind of dumping. In fact, some are disowned by families etc. and that contributes to major depression.
