Is it worth working a job that causes burnout?

My friend works a job that sees him working long hours, often into the night hours. He often has to stay overtime to fix things, and it's weighing on him drastically. I've asked him many times, why put up with this type of work if it's causing you burnout? I know we need work, but I think sometimes it's worth it to find other work instead of sticking to something that drains you physically and mentally.

Would you guys work a job that caused you burnout? This guy doesn't do anything but work, sleep, eat, work, and rinse and repeat. I feel bad for the guy, because he puts up with so much, and yet the job he works at doesn't respect him back for how hard he works. Have you ever dealt with work that caused burnout? How did you get out of it? Did you find a better job after?

From my experience, no, it’s not worth staying long-term in a job that causes burnout. The stress spills into every part of life and affects health. Short-term, it might be tolerable if you’re building savings or gaining experience, but long-term it’s better to seek balance. For example, I once stayed in a draining role for stability, but eventually realized no paycheck could make up for constant exhaustion.

I also think why should a person work at such a place but sometimes when there are lack of jobs one has to stick to the job as he has no where to go. I am also going through the same situation, my job is so exhausting and the boss is so toxic but I still have to continue it because I know at this age I won't be able to get a job like this where I am paid high.
