Medication and Therapy: Finding the Right Combination.

Combinations have clearly changed my mental health around in terms of medication and therapy. I work closely with my doctor to get through with the medicine and therapy plan I needed. It is important to strike the right balance on what really works for you. What has been your experience with finding the right mix of meds and therapy?

Combining medication and therapy, is often the most effective way to address mental health issues, one can use a personalized treatment plan. This combination allows for symptom relief, while also addressing underlying issues and one developing coping skills with it

I find the right medication and therapy combo by working closely with my doctor and therapist, trying CBT alongside SSRIs, and adjusting based on side effects and progress.

I think it's extremely important to find the right combination of therapy and medication in order to help your mental health or your illness.

I myself have a traumatic brain injury and because if my TBI I have chronic pain, I get headaches that sometimes turn into migraines, and I get nauseous and in turn puke. I get overstimulated when in big crowds with lots of noise and tend to always wear my earplugs when I leave the house.

Though medication has helped with the nausea there isn't anything that has helped with my chronic pain and I think that's partly because I refuse to go on anything that may be addictive as addiction runs in my family.

That being said I've had years and years of intense rehabilitation and therapy to get where I am at today and though medication has helped somewhat I'm trying to find ways so that I will not always have to take medications to help with symptoms. I find for the most part medications are like band aids, they work for a while, but they don't actually get rid of the issue/problem and your body will eventually get used to the medication and you'll have to take higher dosages. I find therapy and rehabilitation has helped me be more independent and work towards a healthier life. Because of therapy and rehabilitation I am able to talk again, I'm able to walk properly again and my memory has been getting better. With medication it has helped with some of my symptoms such as helping me sleep better and not be in as much pain. If I didn't have the right combination of medication and therapy I can only imagine how worse off I'd be and how I'd still be dealing with confusion, major memory loss and pain.
