OCD Myths: More Than Just Hand Washing

Obsessive-compulsive disorder isn’t just about cleanliness. Many suffer from intrusive thoughts unrelated to hygiene. How can awareness campaigns go beyond stereotypes?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is often misunderstood as just excessive hand-washing, but it involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and compulsive behaviors. It can manifest in various forms, such as checking, organizing, or counting, affecting daily life beyond cleanliness.

I'm not sure if that's a bad thing, lol. Tons of people are sloppy and it's a big problem in society.

I know this behavior can be very annoying with certain people. Myself, I can leave room for mistakes, but some people can't. For instance, one time I just left stuff in the living room of a boarding house (some cans of soda etc.) and my roommate started chewing me out.

Note: I don't like a messy environment, but I'm not going to chew out someone for occasional mistakes.
