Seasonal Affective Disorder: More Than Winter Blues

SAD affects about 5% of adults in the U.S., especially in northern states. Could light therapy be made more accessible during colder months?

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is more than just winter blues—it’s a type of depression triggered by seasonal changes, often in the fall and winter. Symptoms include low energy, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. Light therapy, exercise, and counseling can help manage it.

Change of season gets to my nerves sometimes. For example, during winter when there is no sunlight for days, I feel depressed. I also feel anxious during the rainy season when it rains incessantly for days and the sun is hidden behind dark cloud. However, I believe my conditions are not clinical. It is just that weather makes me depressed and anxious sometimes.
