Social media and its problem with showing so much violence

So recently I witnessed an assassination of right win political activist Charlie Kirk. I'm sure you all have heard the news by now, but he was assassinated while attending a public debate at a college in Utah. A sniper 200 yards away shot him, pretty much killing him right on the spot. I saw the video of him being shot, and it was disturbing. But I am very desensitized to violence, as I consonantly see death and murder plastered all over social media.

And that leaves me to this topic. Kids are seeing these videos on social media on the daily. They saw this man, shot in cold blood, speaking his own opinions. No one should die because of their opinions. I never agreed with the guy on his views, but I also wouldn't kill someone for having different opinions and views. It's a sad world we live in, that this has kind of been normalized. Especially when the same exact day, a school shooting happened.

So do you think seeing all of this violence on social media, and in our media in general going to protect our children? Will children become desensitized to the ongoing violence around the world?

I am not much familiar with Charlie Kirk views but I have watched him a few times on YouTube. Killing someone for his views is not good. To think radical is not a crime. The constant exposure to violence on social media or in the media is damaging children's brain. children. It has desensitized them, now they are less sensitive to suffering and more accepting of aggressive behavior as normal.

Social media often amplifies violent content because it drives engagement, but constant exposure can desensitize viewers, especially younger audiences. It can also increase anxiety or fear. Limiting consumption, using content filters, and promoting media literacy are useful strategies. Aftermath of Charlie Kirk murder I have seen how insensitive people are with something like killing people for their philosophy

I agree. May not have agreed with the guys opinions and views, but no one deserves to die for them. Social media is a big key as to why kids are seeing what they're seeing. Back when I was a kid, we didn't have access to the stuff we see online, and with kids younger and younger getting access to a smart phone and in turn social media, means they are shown disturbing content possibly on the daily.

It truly does. And seeing what some people say online these days, is just sad. So much hate, you can't get away from it. Because every social media argument you see the same thing, hate and more hate. Someone always has to go too far. The sad truth, is that there are awfully insensitive people out there, who don't care. And those people are the ones trying to push others to do harm. And we need to steer clear of that, we can't let hate consume us all.
