Social media dictating mood swings.

Of late, I have noticed how social media posts can upset or elate a person. Some people get so engrossed in the virtual world that it is hard for them to realise that it is not their reality. A lot of conflicting news, for instance, instigate instant rage in people that they are immediately ready to become violent.

Have you noticed anything similar around you? Does social media affect your mood too?

Yes, social media can impact moods, fueling anger or joy. Many struggle to separate online emotions from real-life experiences.

Some content on social media can be depression, and when you are exposed to these content for extended period of time, it might affect you and hence you are likely to experience stress and anxiety. However, social media content can also be fun and liberating and if you constantly see these content, you will feel relaxed. If you are experiencing bad mood due to the exposure to social media, you might have to stop what you are checking on social media.

I take everything on social media as cruise and that's why social media things can't drive me into depression. There are real life things that you see on social media that are very disturbing. And I feel bad for those. But most of the contents on social media are cruise and I won't even take such contents beyond face value.

Yes, social media can affect your mood. leading to negative emotions like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. social media use can lead to increased feelings of loneliness and isolation, as well as social comparison. I control my mood though

Social media is more often than not toxic. People are always trying to compare themselves or their lives to the lives of others on social media and to be honest, most people are lying about their lives and how amazing they have it. I can definitely see people getting affected negatively with all these posts & videos online and can see how it can effect mood swings and mental health.

I think most people are better off without social media as it's really easy to get lost in the world of social media, scroll for hours and lose precious time that we cannot get back. Social media could be helpful for businesses and entrepreneurs yes, but for the most part people are using it to compare and look at other peoples lives.

I remember when Tik Tok was going to be banned and a lot of "influencers" outed themselves and basically admitted that they lied about everything and how they made money off of other people by basically manipulating them etc. It's so disgusting and horrible that people are doing this but this is reality.

In my opinion we should be more focused on our lives and goals and spend less time looking at other people's lives and goals. The only person you should be better than is your old self. You should always want to grow as a person and comparing yourself to those who lead a fake life isn't going to help you obtain and reach your goals.

For those who are actually getting mood swings or being negatively impacted by social media (which let's be real is most people) should not have social media or spend as much time online. If you're someone who spends too much time scrolling, I would suggest putting on a timer and only allowing yourself x amount of time on social media before you go and do something productive. If you're more serious about it you can also delete your social medias.

Ultimately it's up to you and you should make a choice that will benefit you in the end, I just know sometimes people get lost in the world of social media they forget to be grateful and appreciative for what they have and work harder on a life that YOU want, not what the influencers want you to have.

I have noticed that social media can dictate my mood swings, amplifying highs with likes and lows with comparisons or negativity. Curating my feed and limiting screen time help me maintain emotional balance and mental clarity.
