Will Gen Alpha have to work until they die?

Being a millennial I already know I may be working for the rest of my life. I don't make a lot of money and I doubt I will make enough to comfortably retire, so I'm expecting to work into my 70s or even 80s. I'll be lucky to retire earlier than that.

Do you think Gen Alpha is screwed in the sense that they will be stuck working for their lifetimes?

It’s a fair concern. Gen Alpha is growing up in a world where automation, AI, and rising living costs could make financial independence tougher. But they also have advantages, early digital fluency, access to global opportunities, and more flexible work models. They might not escape lifelong work, but they could redefine what “work” means, blending it more with creativity and personal freedom than past generations did.
