Can Online Therapy Be As Effective As In-Person?

Teletherapy offers convenience, but some worry it lacks personal connection. Research suggests it can be nearly as effective for many disorders. Have you tried online sessions, and how did they compare to face-to-face therapy?
 
I haven’t tried teletherapy myself, but I’ve seen friends and family use it. Many found it convenient and effective, though they mentioned it sometimes felt less personal compared to in-person sessions. It seems to work well for regular check-ins or mild conditions.
 
They call online therapy teletherapy? I guess I learned a new thing today. Anyway, about the topic at hand, I think online therapy can be just as useful as in person, especially if you're on camera with your therapist. I have an online friend who goes to therapy online, just does it through zoom as he doesn't like to leave his house.

It's about the convenience of it, being able to just do a meeting through a zoom call or discord call, can make the process easier for the patient. I've never done therapy myself, but I'd consider trying online therapy if it's easier for me to do. Plus I kind of like the idea that if I get too overwhelmed I can just leave the call. When doing in person therapy, you can't really do that. Well, you can decide to walk out, but that's a lot tougher to do than just clicking a button on your PC.

However, you need to pick a licensed therapist who offers video sessions. It is easy to fall into the trap of fake therapist
 
Effectiveness of online therapy or one-on-one session for that matter depends on the therapist and your willingness to be come open. If a therapist is good and if you trust the therapist and share your thoughts and emotions, both online and offline therapy can be effective. What is more important is being open in the therapy session

Yeah convenience is a big one, because I know it's not easy for everyone to go out and see a therapist in person. Some don't want to leave the comfort of their home. Some deal with medical issues that keep them at home as well. And of course, you want to make sure you're seeing a legitimate therapist. That's why it's always recommended to check our reviews and references for anyone you intend to see for your therapy.
